Terms of Enrollment

Please review the following policies. Acceptance of terms is mandatory when enrolling in our program.

We require all patrons to agree with, sign and return our updated Liability & Waiver Release Form for themselves or on behalf of their minor children prior to participating in classes. Please review the form here: LIABILITY & WAIVER RELEASE FORM CONTRACT & AGREEMENT updated MAY 2020

We will watch enrollment very closely in each class in order to make sure classes do not exceed the recommended capacity. We charge an enrollment fee as part of registration. We do not charge a separate costume fee. The enrollment fee does not roll into tuition or transfer from one semester to another and it is non-refundable.

Gum chewing & snacking during class is prohibited

No prorating or refunds due to absences. If a payment plan is necessary, please make an appointment with the Academy Treasurer. No refunds for registration fees. Refunds for tuition may be approved by email from the Board of Directors upon request but are likely to only be given for extenuating circumstances (a move, a debilitating illness/accident, or a death).  Refunds will not generally be issued for disasters, pandemics or other Acts of God or of Government.

Only instructors and students are allowed in the studio during class. Exceptions to this rule must be cleared with the Ballet Director at directortvad@gmail.com
Parents are welcome to observe class through the window outside the studio. We also have occasional events where parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their dancer(s) such as parent observation week and costume distribution.

Parents/Students are expected to report all absences. At the discretion of the board, students may be withdrawn from class and/or performances when lack of attendance is problematic. Consistent lack of attendance can cause problems for the other dancers, most especially when choreography is being taught/rehearsed. Please communicate with us.

Students should be present for class 5 minutes prior to their start time and able to leave the premises within 5 minutes after the end of class. Being prepared means dressed in compliance with the dress code, including preparation of hair. If students are not ready on time they should ask a Staff Member (generally a Teacher or Teacher Assistant) for directions.

For the safety of all involved, dancers under the age of 10 should remain inside the studio until transportation arrives. Please pick up your dancer within 5 minutes of their class ending! This is essential in order for us to operate efficiently given the current circumstances.

When parents/students know in advance that they will be late or absent from class, they should notify the instructor prior to the start of class via text or phone message. Please look for further instructions regarding how to contact your instructor directly in the email sent from enrollment@tvadance.org

NOTEIf a student is absent for more than 4 weeks of instruction without communication he/she may be automatically withdrawn from the class and any upcoming performance.

Students who have health problems or injuries are asked to notify the instructor. Health problems will be kept confidential. Please refrain from bringing sick children to class.

FOR CLASS

Adherence to the dress code promotes unity and discipline among students and aids the instructor in teaching correct placement. Compliance with the dress code will be verified during the taking of attendance. Students not in compliance may be asked to sit and observe class. Instructors may ask female students to remove optional attire at any time. Launder dancewear on a regular basis! Students are expected to observe good personal hygiene habits.

Female Underclothing: Any underclothing should be flesh colored or a neutral color (black or white), and hidden as best as possible. Female LeotardsBlack camisole leotard is required. Female dancers may also opt to wear a black tank leotard (sleeveless) to class or a high-neck/mock turtleneck leotard. No capsleeve leos please. Female Tights: Body Wrappers total stretch ballet pink tights are required for class, rehearsals & performances. Female Shoes: Leather/Canvas split-sole/full-sole pink ballet flats. Dancers in pointe need to have their pointe shoes for class time and refer to their instructor for when those should be worn.

Where to purchase tights & other dance attire: Order tights larger than you normally would. Most children Age 8+ should wear adult sizes. You may purchase tights & other attire online through discountdance.com or with another vendor of your choice. You can receive a discount the first time you order through Discount Dance by using the teacher code: TP34649.

Optional Female Attire: Solid black, white or light pink ballet skirt, leg warmers, crossover cardigan/wraps.

Male Tops: Compression shirts or short sleeve fitted plain black, white or grey t-shirts please. Male Bottoms: Black compression shorts, “bike shorts” or biketards preferable. Lycra pants must be worn so that knee to ankle movements are clearly visible to the instructor. Basketball shorts acceptable as well. Socks: Black or white ankle socks or thin trouser socks. Shoes: Black or Grey ballet flats.

Shoes in general: All students, including those studying on pointe, are required to bring technique shoes [ballet flats] to class. No exceptions. For safety and practicality, students will not be allowed to participate in class, rehearsals or performances without wearing the proper shoes. Pointe shoes are only to be purchased and worn as directed by the Ballet Director of our organization. An assessment is necessary prior to beginning pointework, therefore students/parents of students should not purchase pointe shoes or sign up for a class that requires point if they have not been approved to do so.

Contemporary Class: Dancers in Contemporary class may wear leggings and flowy top, or may wear the standard ballet class dress code. Ballet flats are still required.

Eyewear: Dancers are welcome to wear glasses during class as long as they are secured. If glasses become problematic to the safety of themselves or others (for example, glasses fly off while a dancer is doing turns) we would ask them to be further secured or removed.

Jewelry: Please refrain from wearing jewelry, with the exception of earring studs.

Hair: Hair must be pulled away from the face and secured off the neck. Hair that is long enough must be in a bun or French-twist. Dancers with shorter hair must use a headband or secure their hair away from their face.

FOR PERFORMANCE

Performance Attire for Females: A Flesh/Nude Colored Camisole Leotard (should have clear or flesh colored straps) is REQUIRED and should be worn underneath clothing at initial fittings, costume distribution, dress rehearsal, performances and any other time costumes are worn. No other underclothing of any color should be visible. Female dancers may need to wear their standard black camisole leotard with plain scoop front and back and no extra colors or ornamentation for a performance on occasion. All females should plan to wear their Body Wrappers Total Stretch Ballet Pink Color Tights. Make sure there are no holes in your tights for performances. Shoes: all drawstrings taped inside or removed. Dancers on pointe will likely need pointe shoes for performances, but should refer to instructor for details. Full Make-up will include false eyelashes for ladies 12 +. Female Hair: Hair will likely be a medium-high bun that must be well secured. Hairpieces are a possibility for performances. Refer to the costume information sheet which will be provided you at costume distribution for the most specific information needed for performances.

Males: Compression shirt such as under armor or Short sleeve fitted plain black or white t-shirt may be needed to wear under costumes. Black compression shorts and/or a dancebelt should be worn. Depending on the costume assigned, black or white socks or black tights may be required. Other colored tights would be provided.

Shoes: Black or Grey ballet flats are the most common. Other colors will be provided as needed.

Eyewear: Glasses will not be allowed during dress rehearsal, performances or picture day due to safety as well as the aesthetics of the art form that our dancers are training in. Contact lenses are always welcome and allowed.

Jewelry: No Jewelry allowed for performances that is not a piece of a costume.

Hair: No unnatural colors or outlandish styles for performances unless approved by the Ballet Director.

Tattoos: Must not be seen for performances. Please plan to adequately and fully cover.

Costume specifics will be discussed during our mandatory “Costume Distribution/Parent Meeting” prior to a performance. Costumes are property of the Academy and are loaned to students prior to a performance. Costumes must be returned after the final performance or they will incur a late fee of $1 a day. After 30 days, the costume will be considered lost and the responsible party will be sent a bill for the cost of replacement.
