Volunteer Opportunities

Green Room Coordinator

The Green Room Coordinator arrives 2 hours before the show, and manages the Green Room, including providing a mess free craft for approximately 80 children (costs of which will be reimbursed. Submit receipts to the Treasurer). The Coordinator works with Class Volunteers to help keep the order in the Green Room and communicates with the Children’s Stage Managers.

Class Volunteer

Class Volunteers arrive 1.5 hours before the show starts, and follow directions from the Green Room Coordinator. They assist children in the Green Room to stay quiet, to prepare for the performance, to use the bathroom if needed, to change into costumes etc, and to check that costumes are worn correctly, making sure that the dancers are show ready.

Front of House volunteers: Usher/Ticket sales:

Front of house volunteers arrive 1.25 hours before the show starts.  They welcome patrons to the ballet and let them know that it is open seating.  They check tickets (proof of purchase on phones or printed tickets), and stamp the hands of those with tickets.  If someone needs to purchase a ticket, refer them to the table where a Ticket Sales Volunteer can help them  purchase a ticket with cash, Venmo or online through the tvadance.org website. Explain that programs can be found by scanning the program QR code.

Head of Concessions:

The Head of Concessions arrives at Tooele High School the afternoon of the show to put the donated drinks in coolers with ice. (Coolers and the purchase of ice is coordinated by the Head of Concessions. The cost of ice can be reimbursed by submitting the receipts to the Treasurer.)

They arrive 1.5 hours before the show starts to help set out donated concessions on tables and help to keep the tables stocked.  They assign duties to the other concession volunteers, and make sure the cash boxes are always attended to or delivered to the Treasurer.

Before, during intermission and after the show, along with the other concession volunteers, they take payments for concessions sold and give correct change. If a purchase is made through Venmo, check the individual’s phone to see that the payment was made.

Following the performance, the Head of concessions helps take down the concession tables and stores extra items.  Extra concessions can be loaded onto the truck with the setwork following the show, or can be taken to the studio.

Concessions Volunteers:

Concession Volunteers should report to the Head of Concessions 1.25 hours before the show begins to receive instructions.  They can take payments for concessions sold and give correct change.  If a purchase is made through Venmo, check the individual’s phone to see that the payment was made.  They make sure the cash boxes are always attended to or delivered to the Treasurer, and are available to help with concessions before the show and during intermission.

Crew Manager:

The Crew Manager assists the Stage Manager and/or Director with props, set work, and captains the Stage Crew.  The Crew Manager needs to be at some major rehearsals, including dress rehearsal and performances to know where the props and set work needs to be placed during the show.

Stage Hands (Crew):

Stage Hands, or Crew, help to transport the set and props.  They assist in setting up the stage area and help to break the set.  They move the sets and place props during and between scenes.  Must be able to lift and carry.

Costume/Prop Committee Member:

Costume and Prop Committee Members attend bi-annual committee meetings where they brainstorm with the committee to create costumes and props that help meet the vision of the show. They volunteer for projects, including sewing costumes, creating headpieces and props. (Not all projects require sewing.) Committee Members need to be able to meet deadlines for projects and work within a budget. Costuming and prop/set work costs are reimbursed by submitting receipts to the Treasurer. One or more costume committee members are needed to help at dress rehearsal and performances, to help with any costuming issues that arise.

Costume Sign-in Volunteer:

Costume Sign-in Volunteers stay after the final show to help collect/check in costumes.  They sort costumes and help load them into the trailer to be returned to the ballet barn.

Concessions donations:

In kind donations, such as soda, candy bars and other items that can be sold at the Tooele High School performance are needed. A list is sent around during Costume Distribution, in which concession items can be signed up for.  Please bring concession items to the studio the week before the show or coordinate with the concessions coordinator.

Greeter: Arrives 1.5 hours before the show. Checks dancers in as they arrive at Tooele High School/Rose Wagner and directs them to the green room.
